When Will the Fifth Wave of Coronavirus Arrive? Will There Be Stricter Restrictions?

Minister Adam Niedzielski was a guest of Tomasz Terlikowski on RMF FM on December 22. The minister said:

We have already passed the peak of infections and the peak of hospitalizations. I think that this week is when we will indeed reach the apex of this wave that we are currently dealing with.

When will the fifth wave arrive?

As Adam Niedzielski said in the interview, ministry officials assume that the following scenario is the most likely: the fourth wave associated with Delta will transition smoothly into the fifth, which is associated with the Omicron variant.

The head of the Ministry of Health added:

We will probably see this acceleration and the beginning of the fifth wave at the end of January, in the sense that Omicron will begin to become dominant, because it will define this fifth wave.

Will there be stricter restrictions?

Minister Niedzielski answered that “more decisive restrictions” are already in force.
