The Gminny Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu in Osiecznica and the IstotneInformacje.pl service invite you to the 4th Lower Silesian Athletics Meet for Primary and Secondary Schools with a military profile, which will be held on 20 April at the stadium of the Zespół Szkół in Świętoszów.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Primary and secondary school students will compete in the following events: 60 m sprint, 60 m hurdles, 600 m run, long jump, high jump and backward medicine-ball throw.
Additional attractions at Saturday’s competition will include, among other things, demonstrations of equipment used by soldiers of the special unit from Bolesławiec. Those interested will be able to try shooting with air guns and throwing grenades, knives and throwing stars at a target. It will also be possible to have a photo taken with Stars of Polish Athletics. The meet is organized by the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu in Osiecznica.
The special guests of the competition will be:
- Piotr Rysiukiewicz – an Olympic athlete from Atlanta, finishing sixth in the 4×400 m relay, and from Sydney, finishing seventh in the 4×400 m relay; a five-time national record holder in national and club 4×400 m relays and a seven-time Polish champion in the 400 m and 4×400 m. He is currently President of the Lower Silesian Athletics Association.
- Piotr Haczek – an Olympic finalist in the 4×400 m relay in Atlanta (sixth place – 3:00.96) and Sydney (seventh place – 3:03.22).
- Piotr Długosielski – participant in the Sydney Olympic Games (2000), a member of the national 4×400 m relay team that finished seventh (3:03.22).
- Paweł Januszewski – a three-time Olympic participant in the 400 m hurdles and 1998 European champion.
