The military assembly provided an opportunity to honour artillerymen achieving the highest results in service. – Rocket and Artillery Forces Day, celebrated on Saint Barbara’s Day, is an expression of respect for the centuries-old tradition, history and achievements of our special branch of the armed forces, said the acting commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Paweł Jędryczka. In his address, Colonel Jędryczka referred to the most important tasks carried out this year and thanked the soldiers and Ministry of National Defence employees for the commitment and dedication they put into their daily service.
After the ceremonial orders had been read, Lieutenant Colonel Jędryczka presented the distinguished artillerymen with letters of commendation featuring a photograph against the backdrop of the standard, as well as congratulatory letters.
Students from the first uniformed class of II Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Bolesławiec also took part in “Artillery Barbara,” taking a solemn oath on the school standard in the presence of their closest relatives.
The military assembly concluded with a parade of subunits, after which, in accordance with tradition, a delegation of soldiers laid flowers beneath the memorial plaque dedicated to the artillery units stationed in the Bolesławiec garrison and to artillerymen who had fallen or died.
