Statement of the District Veterinary Inspector in Bolesławiec dated 25 November
The District Veterinary Inspector in Bolesławiec, with reference to Regulation No. 30 of the Lower Silesian Voivode dated 22 November 2021 on preventing the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, informs that areas particularly vulnerable to the risk of introduction of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (HPAI), i.e. high-risk areas, have been designated in Bolesławiec County.
They are the following municipalities and localities:
- All localities located in Gromadka Municipality;
- In Bolesławiec Municipality: Bolesławice, Łaziska, Bożejowice, Rakowice, Nowe Jaroszowice, Otok, Dobra, Kraśnik Dolny, Kraśnik Górny, Nowa Wieś Kraśnicka, Lipiany, Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka;
- In Nowogrodziec Municipality: Zabłocie, Milików, Nowogrodziec;
- In Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality: Warta Bolesławiecka, Wartowice, Iwiny;
- In Osiecznica Municipality: Parowa and Przejęsław.
In high-risk areas, poultry must be kept indoors. Keeping geese and ducks together with other poultry species is prohibited.
Furthermore, all persons keeping backyard poultry must observe the following rules:
- Poultry must be kept in fenced runs; feeding and watering must take place under cover.
- In the case of ducks and geese, access to water bodies is prohibited.
- Poultry owners are required to place disinfectant mats at the entrances and exits of livestock buildings in which poultry is kept.
- Poultry feed must be protected from contamination by wild bird droppings.
Furthermore, the District Veterinary Inspector reminds all persons keeping backyard poultry of the obligation to report poultry kept for their own use, regardless of the number of birds kept. Reports may be made by telephone at 75 7301086 or by email: boleslawiec@wroc.wiw.gov.pl.
