Deputy Commissioner Wojciech Jabłoński from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters:

During a night patrol of the area where heavy goods vehicles are parked, prevention officers from the Kruszyn Police Station detained a 44-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County.

It emerged that the man had acted as a lookout while his accomplice carried out the break-ins.

Thanks to swift cooperation with the officers, the second suspect was also detained. The 31-year-old resident of Polkowice County had attempted to flee. Moreover, near one of the trucks, police secured containers holding fuel—100 litres in total—that had come from the theft.

The spokesperson adds:

The perpetrators arrived at the crime scene by car, which they hid in a nearby forest. The division of roles between the accomplices was clear. Acting in concert, the suspects intended to steal fuel from three trucks. In one case, 100 litres of fuel were drained; in the other two vehicles, they attempted to commit theft with burglary.

That was not the end of the matter. Officers from Kruszyn proved that the 31-year-old had committed three other thefts with burglary. The resident of the neighbouring county stole more than 900 litres of fuel in total.

Both detainees now face up to 10 years in prison.
