On Thursday, a Reader called us, outraged by the situation on Komuny Paryskiej Street:
What is happening with the markings? Yesterday [November 3 — editor’s note: istotne.pl], around noon, a white line was painted on the pavement on Komuny Paryskiej Street. They disfigured the pavement. Residents asked the workers about it and heard that they “had a plan.”
But, the person who reported the matter continued, the plan apparently changed very quickly, because at around 11 p.m. that same day, the workers came and painted over the line with a roller. The Reader asked: “What is this about? Who pays this company?”
Agnieszka Gergont, press spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall, explains:
On that day, an on-site inspection was held on Komuny Paryskiej Street in order to consult residents and business owners about whether parking should be changed from parallel parking alongside the pavement to angled parking. The proposal to change the parking arrangement came from a councillor representing that district.
She adds:
During the on-site assessment (a temporary line was painted on the pavement on Komuny Paryskiej Street), residents and the councillor concluded that this parking arrangement would take away too much of the pavement from pedestrians, and abandoned the plan. The temporary line was painted and removed at no cost (the company did not charge a fee).
