Does the Local Government Charter of Family Rights support Gromadka residents or discriminate against them? We discuss this in a live interview with Krzysztof Król, a councillor of Gromadka Municipality, and Mahawir Domański, vice-president of the Wolna Gromadka Association.
In 2019, the Gromadka Municipal Council adopted a resolution on the Local Government Charter of Family Rights (SKPR) during a session. It is a document prepared by the orthodox Ordo Iuris Institute. As we read on the Ordo Iuris website in information about the SKPR, the charter is intended to limit the scale of discrimination against traditional marriages (II. FAMILY RIGHTS IN THE MUNICIPALITY’S SOCIAL POLICY).
Members of the Wolna Gromadka Association are campaigning to repeal the resolution on the SKPR because they are concerned about the overly narrow interpretation of regulations concerning domestic violence set out in the resolution, as well as the possibility of the municipality being deprived of grants from European and Norwegian funds. They are also concerned about the municipality’s inclusion in the Atlas of Hate and the homophobic message of the Charter.
