Firefighters from the State Fire Service and volunteer fire brigades responded to two fires on Thursday evening (14 October). Around 6:00 p.m., soot caught fire in a chimney in Osieczów. Several fire service units operated at the scene.

After 8:00 p.m., firefighters received a report of a fire in a farm building in the village of Ławszowa. Local volunteer fire brigade units and State Fire Service units from Bolesławiec were dispatched to the scene. When the firefighters arrived, the entire building was engulfed in flames.

Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident.

We remind you about inspections of ventilation, smoke and flue-gas systems

Under Article 62(1) of the Construction Law, mandatory inspections of ventilation, smoke and flue-gas ducts must be carried out at least once a year, while the chimney should be cleaned at least four times a year. This requirement is imposed on single-family homeowners by a regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration. Otherwise, a fine of up to PLN 500 may be imposed.

Cleaning and inspecting chimneys is, above all, a matter of responsibility for the health and lives of ourselves and our loved ones.
