Attention! On a 300-metre section of the A4 towards Zgorzelec, between the Legnica Wschód and Legnickie Pole interchanges, a temporary speed limit of 80 km/h has been introduced. A warning about an uneven road surface has also appeared there. The reason? Infrastructure damage caused by Thursday’s collision involving two trucks and a massive fire.

As reported by the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways:

We plan for the changes in traffic organisation to remain in place until 15 November this year, that is, until repairs restoring the road’s service parameters have been completed.

Let us recall. The incident in question took place on Thursday, 7 October, a few minutes after 8:00 p.m. “The duty officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica was notified of a road incident at kilometre 93.600 of the A4 motorway, between Legnickie Pole and Legnica. Road Traffic Department officers immediately went to the scene and properly secured it,” asp. Anna Grześków of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica reported on Friday morning.

She added:

Police determined that the 36-year-old driver of a tanker, travelling towards Zgorzelec, was unable to avoid colliding with a truck driver whose vehicle had broken down and was stationary in the right lane.

As a result of the collision, the tanker overturned onto its side, blocking both lanes, and the flammable cargo being transported by the driver of the Iveco vehicle caught fire.

Fortunately, no one was injured.
