The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, October 6. During construction work on Tysiąclecia Avenue in Bolesławiec (the construction of a car park), a German mortar shell (80 mm caliber) from World War II was found. When the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment arrived at the site, it spotted a second object of the same type. It is possible that there are more of them there.
The bomb disposal specialists ordered the evacuation of, among others, the Intermarché supermarket and Oxpress school. Approximately 600 people were evacuated in total.

It should be understood that explosives used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their date of manufacture.
If you have any suspicion about a found object, call the bomb disposal specialists. They will remove the threat and are properly prepared to do so.
What should you do if you find unexploded ordnance?
Soldiers:
- Do not touch such objects.
- Secure the area against access by bystanders (e.g. children) and mark the place where the object was found.
- Immediately report it by calling the emergency number 112, the Police, Municipal Police, Fire Service or Forestry Service.
