Świętoszów Trainees Take the Military Oath | 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade

On Saturday morning, September 25, trainees of preparatory military service took the military oath at the garrison square of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów. The ceremony also featured the Brigade’s first-ever promotion of trainees completing the Academic Legion’s non-commissioned officer module, as well as four professional privates.

The Saturday ceremony began with a report submitted by the ceremony commander, the Brigade’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Krzysztof Kacperek. After the national flag was raised and those gathered sang the national anthem, General Kowalik addressed the audience. In his speech, he spoke to the heroes of the ceremony standing in formation:

The military oath is an act of a soldier’s special commitment, in which service to the homeland means constant readiness and the ability to make the ultimate sacrifice in its defense. “I, a soldier of the Polish Armed Forces, swear to serve the Republic of Poland faithfully (…)” — although speaking the words of the military oath takes little time, it is a commitment for life. The act of swearing the oath expresses patriotism and the highest commitment to the Homeland and the Polish Nation.

This concluded the preparatory service training for 102 soldiers, who will also supplement the personnel reserves of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. Taking the military oath marks the completion of four weeks of basic training, during which the trainees learned the fundamentals of military conduct, tactics and firearms training.

This year, six preparatory service courses were organized at the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade. Nearly 600 basic-training trainees took part in the training.

The second part of the ceremony was the non-commissioned officer promotion. Thirty-one trainees and four professional soldiers received their appointments to the rank of corporal. Members of the Academic Legion are university students at institutions of higher education throughout Poland.

The ceremonial assembly concluded with a performance of the Representative Song of the Polish Armed Forces and a soldiers’ parade to the sound of “Warszawianka,” performed by the Military Orchestra from Żagań. The ceremony ended with a display of military equipment.
