Body contouring

For years, the idea of becoming the best version of yourself has remained popular. A slimmer, smaller figure and firm body—that is the dream of most of us. Healthy eating, gym workouts and drinking plenty of water are the foundation of a slim figure. However, it sometimes happens that despite following a diet, our body still leaves much to be desired.

How can you quickly contour your body and get rid of stubborn, locally deposited fat tissue? You will find the solution at Klinika La Perla!

At all our clinics, we offer weight loss and help patients get rid of the problem of excess fat tissue. Liposuction and lipolysis are ways to slim the abdomen, thighs, chin and other selected areas of the body.

The word “lipo” most likely comes from the Greek λίπος (lipos), meaning fat. This certainly connects both procedures: their aim is to remove accumulated fat. The differences have nothing to do with etymology; here, the focus should be on assessing the effectiveness and durability of the results of these two popular weight-loss methods. But let us start from the beginning.

Fat removal? What is liposuction?

Liposuction is a procedure involving the removal of accumulated fat tissue from one or several areas. It is a quick way to contour your figure and enjoy the results for years!

What does it involve? Liposuction involves removing most of the accumulated fat cells; it includes fat removal and prevents them from growing excessively in the future. Even if additional kilograms are gained over the years, fat tissue will not accumulate again at the treated site to the same extent as before. This process is drastically reduced and delayed because the removed tissues cannot fill with fat again. Therefore, the results of the procedure are long-lasting, and there is no need to repeat it even years later.

Liposuction is characterized by its local action on specific areas of the body. It targets places where other methods have failed. It does not replace weight loss, but strengthens and improves the process of losing weight. It is absolutely ideal for people who want to contour their figure and achieve perfect proportions. It helps easily remove fat from areas where we usually lose weight with the greatest difficulty and most slowly.

How is liposuction performed?

Depending on the type of liposuction chosen, each procedure looks slightly different. At Klinika La Perla, the most common liposuction method is Body Jet water-assisted liposuction. It involves removing, or rather gently rinsing out, fat tissue. A water solution with an anesthetic is introduced under pressure through a cannula. The stream dissolves the accumulated fat, and the fluid is then removed together with the unwanted material.

Body Jet liposuction is the most effective and gentle liposuction method, based on the use of innovative fat-reduction technology using a stream of water. It is unique compared with other liposuction techniques because it offers:

  • immediate and lasting results
  • it is the safest option for the patient
  • it is the least invasive liposuction method
  • it requires a short recovery period
  • a few hours after the procedure, you can return home independently.

New—transplantation of removed fat!

Fat obtained using the Body Jet Liposuction method can be successfully used for transplantation. Fat cells then serve as a natural filling material and, transferred to the buttocks or breasts, allow for optimal body contouring. Fat obtained during liposuction can also be used to enlarge the lips, contour the jawline or lift the cheekbones. This is a very beneficial combination of two medical procedures for the patient. Lipotransfer is becoming increasingly popular.

Who is liposuction intended for?

Above all, remember that liposuction will not “do all the work for us.” It is not a typical slimming procedure for the entire figure, but a procedure that contours selected areas of the body. Since approximately 3 liters of pure fat can be removed during one session, the results can be compared to a year spent actively attending fitness classes.

Before surgery, it is advisable to try to lose as much weight as possible naturally. This will provide a more visible and spectacular visual effect, and better well-being will help us recover faster and buy smaller-sized clothes sooner. The procedure is recommended as a significant acceleration of the weight-loss process and as body shaping and circumference reduction, for patients with locally deposited fat tissue, for example on the abdomen after pregnancy. It also effectively solves problems in areas where other methods have failed. If there are many fat cells, the procedure itself can be repeated in the same or other areas after several months to achieve a satisfactory result.

Liposuction locally eliminates fat tissue. The areas most commonly treated are:

  • Abdomen
  • Saddlebags
  • Thighs
  • Calves
  • Knees
  • Arms
  • Buttocks

First visit—what is worth knowing about liposuction?

During the first visit, the doctor conducts a detailed interview with the patient. They assess the patient’s health and discuss the individual stages of the surgical procedure. The specialist’s task is to explain every aspect related to the procedure in detail.

The doctor must select the optimal solution in line with the patient’s expectations. During the consultation, the method and scope of the procedure are determined, the patient’s health is verified and any contraindications are analyzed. Each person must also undergo the tests recommended by the doctor. Based on the results, we can identify or rule out possible contraindications to liposuction.

Basic tests:

  • Complete blood count
  • Blood clotting test
  • Blood type
  • Ionogram
  • Glucose level
  • Vaccinations
  • Electrolytes
  • Creatinine

Liposuction procedure

At Klinika La Perla liposuction is performed by an experienced team of doctors and nurses. First, the surgeon and anesthesiologist anesthetize the patient. Everything takes place under sedation, a medical procedure intended to eliminate the sensation of pain.

After the patient has been prepared for the procedure, a special water solution with an anesthetic is introduced into the tissues. It is injected using the aforementioned cannulas, which the surgeon inserts deep into the tissues through a small incision in the skin. A very thin, pulsating and targeted stream of the water solution is released from the cannula. It penetrates the intercellular spaces and loosens the connections between fat cells. The cells separate from one another and are then removed through the cannula together with the previously administered fluid. Thanks to sedation and local anesthesia, the patient feels no discomfort, and the surgeon can work freely.

What are the recommendations after the procedure?

Above all, remember that you need to take it easy. You may feel as though you have been “beaten up.” You remain at the clinic under specialist supervision for several hours. Recovery takes from several days to two or three weeks. During this time, you should rest more, drink plenty of water, eat easily digestible meals and avoid overexertion. You should also wear a compression garment or corset over the treated area. This helps the skin contract and heal faster and reduces swelling. After liposuction, you should refrain from physical activity for two weeks. The final result will be visible within a month at the latest; bruising and swelling will disappear.

To support the process of shaping and healing the treated area, you must attend post-lipo treatments, such as thermologie. These treatments accelerate the results and prevent the formation of irregularities after liposuction. You can read more about the procedure here —> LIPOSUCTION

Lipolysis—a popular aesthetic medicine procedure

Injection lipolysis is an aesthetic medicine procedure. There is no denying that liposuction is a surgical procedure, unlike injection lipolysis, but that is probably why it is considered more effective. In the case of lipolysis, a single session does not produce visible results and, to be honest, it must be admitted that many repetitions of the procedure are needed. This does not mean, however, that lipolysis is completely ineffective. It is a good solution for younger people or those with minor problems.

What is injection lipolysis?

Injection lipolysis involves injecting under the skin a substance that dissolves fat cells and is intended to remove fat tissue. At the injection site, an intended and controlled mild inflammation of the fat tissue develops. The cells rupture, and the fats released from them enter the bloodstream, travel to the liver, where they are broken down, and are then excreted from the body. In this way, fat is dissolved locally without causing any deformities, but its effect is limited after a single procedure. The procedure is performed in series, for example, five times at intervals of two to three weeks.

Lipolysis eliminates fat tissue and works well for small areas such as:

  • Double chin
  • Knees
  • Under-eye bags

After lipolysis, drainage and massage of the treated areas are recommended to help naturally transport the fat to the liver and permanently remove it from the body. It is worth remembering, however, that unlike the liposuction mentioned above, lipolysis is performed without anesthesia. Although it is carried out by a doctor, it does not require special preliminary tests or patient involvement.

Injection lipolysis is not a weight-loss method, but one element of contouring—not even of the figure, but of small body areas. It works best for reducing a double chin. This is the most frequently performed procedure.

Lipolysis is used to reduce small amounts of fat in smaller areas of the body or face that cannot be removed through other procedures and efforts. Therefore, obese people with a large excess of fat tissue are not good candidates for the procedure. The result is often not fully satisfactory, and after some time the patient decides to undergo liposuction.

Injection lipolysis is nevertheless an ideal solution for young people with minor problems. When a series of procedures is performed, the results can be satisfactory. Read more about injection lipolysis here —> LIPOLYSIS
