Officers from the Border Guard Post in Zgorzelec detained two Polish nationals during an investigation into the trading of illegal excise goods conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. – During a search of their place of residence, Border Guard officers also found and secured nearly 165,000 cigarettes and 15 kilograms of tobacco without Polish excise tax stamps – reports Maj. Additionally, the officers temporarily seized movable property in the form of eight cars and a substantial amount of cash (euros and Czech korunas).
The detainees were brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, where they were charged with fiscal and criminal offenses. Both pleaded guilty. The prosecutor imposed police supervision and a financial guarantee on the detainees.
The suspects will stand trial for their actions. The spokesperson said: – Trading in illegal excise goods carries not only a heavy fine but also a prison sentence.
