Accident on the S3. An emergency corridor was formed, and many drivers… drove the wrong way

The incident occurred on August 29 on the S3. As reported by 112Polkowice:

A road accident involving three vehicles on the S3, at the SW-1 interchange, in the direction of Polkowice. Three vehicles were involved in the incident. Four people were placed in the care of Emergency Medical Services teams.

Firefighters from Zagrodno on the incident:

Firefighters from OSP Zagrodno witnessed dozens of drivers turning around on the S3 expressway and driving the wrong way through the emergency corridor to the nearest exit. The traffic jam formed as a result of an accident near Kaźmierzów (Lower Silesia), in the vicinity of Polkowice, where three vehicles collided.

Let us recall. We have written many times about the Emergency Corridor – Think Ahead campaign, initiated, among others, by firefighters from Czerna. The initiative has also often been covered by the largest nationwide media outlets.

The impetus for the firefighters from Czerna (the municipality of Nowogrodziec) to take action was an incident in 2016, when none of the drivers even attempted to create an emergency corridor and allow uniformed officers to reach the accident site. They had to get out of their vehicles and persuade drivers to pull over.

Thanks in part to the efforts of the firefighters from Czerna, creating an emergency corridor has been mandatory since December 2019.
