Bolesławiec criminal investigators recovered the stolen property and arrested two men as a result of operational activities. The suspects are residents of the county, aged 33 and 39.
The crimes took place on the night of August 22–23 in Gromadka commune. “The perpetrators stole property belonging to a construction company,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. “The suspects arrived at the crime scene together after conducting prior reconnaissance and equipping themselves with a trailer needed to transport the very heavy loot.”
They then jointly stole two compactors worth PLN 46,000. But that was not the end of it. The older suspect returned to the crime scene, broke into workers’ containers and stole a power generator and a water dispenser.
The officers recovered the equipment. The spokeswoman said: “One compactor was hidden in a garage used by the 33-year-old, while the other was in a forest. During a search of the 39-year-old’s apartment, police secured the generator and dispenser.”
In total, equipment worth more than PLN 50,000 was recovered. The younger suspect could now face a sentence of between three months and as much as five years in prison. The older man could spend up to 10 years behind bars.
