The arson took place on 18 July. – The duty officer at the Lwówek police station received information that a building was on fire in the Mirsk municipality. The property owner indicated that her brother could be responsible for the arson – reports Sgt. Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
On the same day, the man in question was taken into police custody. The spokeswoman said: – The evidence collected in the case provided grounds to charge him with two offences. The first concerned destruction of property by setting fire to a building, which was completely destroyed by the fire. The second charge concerned threats. The 38-year-old threatened his sister with taking her life and destroying property.
On Wednesday, 21 July, the court – at the request of the prosecutor and investigators – ordered the 38-year-old suspect to be held in pre-trial detention for three months. The man could face a sentence of between six months and as many as eight years in prison.
