The Lubin traffic police were patrolling the county in an unmarked police car. – In one of the towns, officers noticed the driver of a Toyota and a man driving an Audi directly behind him. Due to the suspicious behaviour of the Audi driver, the officers decided to stop him for a roadside check – reports junior inspector Wojciech Jabłoński from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

It turned out that the second vehicle was being driven by a 27-year-old resident of Lubin. It quickly became clear that the man should not have got behind the wheel at all, as he has been subject to a lifetime ban on driving all motor vehicles since 2019.

Inspector W. Jabłoński:

Additionally, after searching the suspect, officers found a fabric pouch in his pocket. Inside it, wrapped in aluminium foil, was methamphetamine. Suspecting that the man might be under the influence of the drug, the officers decided to check. Their suspicions proved correct: a drug tester showed the presence of methamphetamine in the driver’s body.

The spokesperson adds: – Since the 27-year-old was driving a car with foreign registration plates, the officers asked for the vehicle’s documents. It turned out that they were in the backpack of his colleague, who was driving a Toyota passenger car ahead of him. The man called his acquaintance and asked him to turn around and bring the backpack containing the documents to the scene.

Both men behaved very nervously. Not without reason. The Toyota driver, a 30-year-old resident of the Ścinawa municipality, had methamphetamine in his backpack, inside a tin of protein supplement – surely this will come as no surprise. He, too, was driving under the influence of drugs.

The older man may face up to three years behind bars.
