On July 12, soldiers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment took part in a Sports Day organized by soldiers of the 91st Engineer Battalion stationed in Bolesławiec. – Joint competition in sporting events, tournaments and shooting competitions, as well as in other disciplines designed to test skills and strengthen mutual relations between allied armed forces, are regular initiatives organized by Polish and American soldiers serving at the Bolesławiec garrison – reports Maj. Remigiusz Kwieciński, press officer of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec.

Following last month’s competition at the shooting range, Polish and American soldiers jointly took part in relay races on Monday morning.

– I am convinced that today’s sporting competition between the soldiers of the 23rd Artillery Regiment and the 91st Engineer Battalion stationed in Bolesławiec will be another opportunity to get to know one another better. Compete and fight, but remember that today’s result is not what matters; what matters is spending time together and building good relations through mutual contacts – said Col. Marek Wasielewski during the opening ceremony.

After Lt. Col. Patrick Sullivan, commander of the 91st BEB, summarized the cooperation to date, the commanders exchanged commemorative plaques.

Next, teams representing the Polish and American soldiers competed in 4 × 400-meter and 10 × 400-meter relays. At the end, the soldiers played a joint soccer match. The athletes’ fierce competition was accompanied by cheers from soldiers of both countries, while good fun in the spirit of fair play once again helped strengthen mutual relations outside of service.
