During the ceremony, held at the invitation of the regiment commander, Col. Marek Wasielewski, participants included the Military Recruitment Commander in Bolesławiec, Lt. Col. Robert Kolasa, the regiment chaplain, Capt. Rev. Maciej Gizicki, as well as—while observing epidemic restrictions—the trainees’ immediate family members.
Col. Marek Wasielewski:
Remember that the oath is not merely a solemn ceremony or simply words spoken aloud. Above all, the oath is an act of commitment, an expression of your patriotism and your greatest obligation to the goals and tasks assigned to soldiers by the Polish Nation. Proudly wearing a uniform bearing the white-and-red flag, soldiers undertake to represent with dignity the values and ideals for which successive generations of Poles fought. Today you have joined our military community, which bears responsibility for Poland and its security.
The highlight of the ceremony was the military oath taken by 61 trainees who had completed their training at the Bolesławiec Preparatory Service Training Centre. The following were honored by taking the oath on the unit’s colors:
- trainee Pvt. Marcin Misztal,
- trainee Pvt. Dominik Olejnik,
- trainee Pvt. Tomasz Flig,
- trainee Pvt. Jakub Bodziony.
After the blessing by the regiment chaplain, Capt. Rev. Maciej Gizicki, trainee Pvt. Wioleta Tomkiewicz spoke on behalf of her fellow trainees:
Today we have completed four weeks of basic training, culminating in the making of one of the most important promises to our Homeland—the military oath. After a short but exceptionally interesting and intensive training period, following hours of exercises, the eagerly awaited day arrived when we became soldiers.
For achieving the best results in training and discipline during the course, the regiment commander honored the following with letters of commendation:
- trainee Pvt. Karolina Jędrej,
- trainee Pvt. Kamila Wolska,
- trainee Pvt. Klaudia Sokołowska,
- trainee Pvt. Denis Kłonicki.
The soldiers’ immediate family members attended the presentation of the letters of commendation and received flowers from the regiment commander. The ceremony concluded with a parade of subunits accompanied by the Military Orchestra from Żagań.
