We have reported repeatedly on the planned conversion of the Bolesławiec Tesco into a Netto store. The Bolesławiec market was selected for conversion. On its website, the Netto chain says that the integration process began in March 2021 and that the transformation of Tesco stores into Netto stores will continue until December 2021. The conversion of each store will take a minimum of six weeks, and the first stores under the Netto banner have already opened.
Meanwhile, employees of the Bolesławiec Tesco market were informed that the store in Bolesławiec would close and that there would be mass layoffs. Moreover, there are claims that, contrary to earlier announcements, a Netto store will not be established in Bolesławiec.
We have established that Netto still plans to open a store in Bolesławiec. However, the exact opening date of the market in the city of ceramics is not yet known. As Netto's press office explains, the opening date remains undecided, and Netto stores are being opened gradually in Poland.
Additionally, various publications by trade-industry outlets feature lists of stores Tesco that will not be converted into Netto stores. We did not find the Bolesławiec store among them.
Trade portals report that Tesco stores are being closed (including the store in Bolesławiec) to carry out restructuring and reduce employment, and then adapt them to the requirements of the new chain. By March 2022, Netto is expected to lay off approximately 2,500 employees.
