Aimed at fans of bushcraft, or survival skills in the wilderness, the “Spend the Night in the Forest” campaign began at the start of May. For those who want closer contact with nature, but not as extreme as in the case of survivalism, the State Forests have made 600,000 hectares available across 425 forest districts.

Of course, there are rules that must be followed:

  • State Forests: – A maximum of nine people may spend the night in one place, for no more than two consecutive nights. In this case, registration is not required. However, we would be pleased if you wrote to us and let us know that you are planning to visit.
  • Campfires may not be lit outside designated areas.
  • Bushcraft enthusiasts must take their rubbish with them.
  • Cars may not be driven into the forest.
  • Food leftovers must be taken away, as they are not suitable for forest animals.

Details of the campaign are available on the State Forests website.

What is it like in our area?

As we read on the Bolesławiec Forest District website:

The information spread, and members of the “Bushcraft Lower Silesia” group visited areas made available under the “Spend the Night in the Forest” programme within the Bolesławiec Forest District.

Their brief reports indicate that they liked the areas […]. Here are a few words shared by our guests :)

Tomek S.: – The area around Osieczów. Bolesławiec Forest District. Thank you very much for making this great area available and for the effort put into building the fire pit. It is very practical and safe. We caught a break in the weather and managed to avoid the rain. The spot is excellent and can be confidently recommended. For larger groups, we recommend choosing level ground, unless the greater distance between the fire and the hammock is not a problem. We will certainly come back!

Photos from the aforementioned camping trip are available on the Bolesławiec Forest District website. What do you think? We invite you to join the discussion.
