– A very dangerous incident occurred early this morning at the 143rd kilometre of the A4 motorway. A man driving a Volvo lorry towards Zgorzelec fell asleep at the wheel and veered onto the road shoulder, reports sergeant Aleksandra Rodecka of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

The man was injured and taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger. He was sober at the time of the incident.

Officers:

We remind you that you should rest before every journey. Always plan your route carefully and, above all, find time and a place for breaks during the drive. They are essential, especially when we have a long distance to cover.

Even a few minutes spent stopping, getting out of the vehicle and breathing in some fresh air can prove invaluable and protect us from a potential road incident that could occur if we become unwell or fall asleep at the wheel.

And they add:

We urge everyone to use common sense and care for the health and lives of other road users when setting out on a journey.
