On Thursday, 17 June, near the Żarska Wieś Południe Traveller Service Area (in the direction of Wrocław), the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways organised a pre-holiday road-safety education and inspection campaign.

GDDKiA:

The A4 motorway is an important transport route in Poland, with very heavy traffic. The safety of road users depends on us. To reach our destinations safely, we must remember several important rules while travelling, such as:

  • planning the journey in advance,
  • not using a mobile phone while driving,
  • resting during the journey,
  • not driving too close to the vehicle ahead
  • and creating an “emergency corridor” when we notice obstructions on the road.

Thursday’s campaign was intended to draw attention to road safety and encourage improvements in both driving habits and behaviour. In addition, it aimed to help ensure the safety of, among others, pedestrians and cyclists, who face serious danger in a collision with a vehicle.

WITD inspectors carried out random vehicle inspections, and drivers had the opportunity to ask inspectors about transport regulations. Drivers who passed the inspection successfully received first-aid kits as gifts.
