The presentation of the Medals of the President of the Republic of Poland is always a solemn moment. Wednesday’s session was no exception.
Mr and Mrs Maria and Józef Januszowie have been married for 60 years. Before they could celebrate this anniversary and before they settled permanently in Kruszyn, they had to travel a long, often difficult road. A journey that brought them from Bosnia to the Bolesławiec district. Mr Józef’s family initially settled in Gromadka, while Mrs Maria’s family settled in Bolesławice. Maria and Józef met at a wedding held for their cousins. They then maintained and nurtured their acquaintance by meeting in their free time. They had their civil wedding on 2 April 1960 at the Registry Office in Bolesławiec, and their church wedding on the same day at the church in Bolesławice. Today, Mr and Mrs Januszowie enjoy their retirement, sharing their life together, celebrating the achievements of their children and grandchildren, and watching their great-grandchildren grow up.
Mr and Mrs Maria and Feliks Jańcowie, also residents of Kruszyn, have been happily married for 50 years. On 1 January 1969, the whole world was celebrating the arrival of the New Year, while 18-year-old Marysia was preparing for her cousin’s wedding, which was to take place that day in Golnice. She did not yet realise that among the wedding guests she would meet the young man with whom she would spend her life. On 25 July 1970, they said their sacramental “I do.” Today, Mr and Mrs Jańcowie are parents to two sons and are fulfilling themselves as grandparents.
Residents of Dobra, Irena and Andrzej Gieszczykowie, are also celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple knew each other from school and began dating during their school years. They married on 29 August 1970 at the Registry Office in Złotoryja and have remained together ever since. They have two children—a son and a daughter—and four grandchildren.
We wish the anniversary celebrants many more years together, filled with love, respect and mutual understanding.
