The incident occurred in Legnica. Police received a report that someone was shooting at children on the school playground. “Officers immediately went to the scene and established that, as a result of the incident, a 16-year-old girl had been wounded by a pellet near the eye. The minor was transported to hospital,” reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
The officers immediately went to the location indicated by witnesses and knocked on the door of one of the apartments. After a moment, a man appeared, holding a small child in his arms. The spokesperson said:
During questioning, the 32-year-old denied having any air gun at home that he could have used to shoot at the children. The Legnica resident did not want to let the officers into his apartment. The officers were not fooled by his explanations and entered. While searching the rooms, they found and secured five air guns, as well as pellets and CO2 capsules.
The 32-year-old was arrested. He was charged with two offenses, including exposing others to the risk of loss of life or serious bodily harm. The man explained that the children… were disturbing his peace, so he decided to frighten them with an air rifle.
The detainee now faces up to three years in prison.
