Already on February 6 at the former military casino (al. Wojska Polskiego), a charity ball will be held. The event is being organized by the Parents’ Council operating at the Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych, in cooperation with a military unit. The proceeds from the ball will be allocated to the school’s students. “There are countless needs,” says Anna Lisiak, chairwoman of the Council and one of the ball’s initiators. With the money from ticket sales, the organizers want, for example, to purchase additional swimming-pool hours for the PZSiPS students and pay for hippotherapy sessions.

“Where I come from, events of this kind are organized very often. We decided to try it here as well,” the chairwoman emphasizes.

“The initiative came from the Parents’ Council. I am very pleased, because this could be the beginning of successful cooperation. Anna Lisiak and Hanna Ochyra are such activists that I am left with only an advisory role,” Zdzisława Woźniak, director of the Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych, says with a smile. “The parents of our students rarely get involved in school life. Sometimes, however, we come across parents who are passionate about their own children and who inspire others with their activity.”

The ball will begin at 19:00. Tickets cost PLN 190 per couple. The price includes, among other things, three hot meals, a cold buffet, beverages and entertainment with live music.

That evening, the Tierra Flamenca dance group will perform. In addition, the former military casino will host an exhibition of works created by PZSiPS students. There will also be a raffle and an auction of works by artists with disabilities.

“This ball is a very good idea,” says Zdzisława Woźniak. “We are organizing it for the first time, but we hope it will become a regular event,” Anna Lisiak adds.

“The residents of Bolesławiec do not pass our school by indifferently. They notice how much goodness, warmth and joy reside in our students,” emphasizes the PZSiPS director. “I appeal to everyone who wants to help others, regardless of whether they have disabilities or not. Come and support this initiative.”

Tickets can be purchased at the U Szwejka restaurant (al. Wojska Polskiego) and at the Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych (ul. Zgorzelecka).
