Arek Kukawski from Milików is a second-year student at the Nowogrodziec middle school. He has had neither hands nor feet since birth. He gets around using heavy, poorly fitted prostheses. – He currently uses prostheses designed for the needs of older people, which prevent him from functioning normally, – says Alicja Krawczyk, the initiator of the charity campaign.
Despite his disability, Arek plays football, writes and operates a computer without anyone’s help. He covers the long route from home to school on foot or by bicycle. The only thing he needs to become fully independent is suitable prostheses for his arms and legs. The cost of purchasing the latter is PLN 50,000. What is more, this type of prosthesis must be replaced every two years. The boy comes from a large family. – His parents certainly cannot afford such an expense, – Alicja Krawczyk points out.
On Sunday, January 24, a cabaret show for Arek will be held in the auditorium of the Primary School in Nowogrodziec. Performers will include teachers, students and graduates of the Nowogrodziec middle school, as well as the Grosik cabaret group. – This year everything will be light-hearted, – Alicja Krawczyk emphasizes.
The organizers have planned many attractions. The cabaret show will include, among other things, a raffle and a fair of works made by middle-school students. In addition, the youngest participants will be able to visit the Fun and Games Room and get a unique tattoo.
The proceeds from the cabaret show will be used to purchase prostheses for Arek. It starts at 3:00 p.m.. Admission costs only PLN 5
