PKP PLK:

Compared with last year's summer season, passengers will gain additional access to rail services from new stops. In most provinces, travel comfort—especially for people with limited mobility—has been improved by more accessible platforms equipped with ramps or lifts.

Thanks to line upgrades, carriers can provide shorter and more frequent connections, including on the Warszawa–Lublin, Kraków–Katowice, Kraków–Wrocław and Katowice–Wrocław routes.

“Thanks to investments in the railway network, the role of rail will grow both in everyday and occasional—holiday—travel. New stops and rebuilt platforms, which improve access to rail services for all passengers, contribute to this. We are using EU and budget funds to ensure increasingly attractive long-distance and regional travel,” says Ireneusz Merchel, President of the Management Board of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.

On the Podlasie route to Hajnówka, long-distance trains will join the regional services. Residents of Podlasie and Mazovia, as well as tourists from other regions, will gain daily direct connections from Warszawa and Gdynia. In southern Poland, long-distance trains will also reach the Bieszczady Mountains, stopping at Uherce station.

Direct rail connections to Zakopane will return from June 26, including from Kraków, Warszawa and Gdynia. Passengers travelling on regional trains to the Tatras will be able to board more conveniently from the modernized platforms in Sucha Beskidzka, Jordanów, Raba Wyżna and Pyzówka.

In Pomerania, after the line's revitalization, connections on the Malbork–Kwidzyn route are scheduled to return. Platforms in Kwidzyn, Gościszewo, Sztumska Wieś, Ryjewo, Brachlewo and Sztum will provide convenient access for people with limited mobility.

For seasonal holiday travel, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. has ensured that lines are well maintained, including the Chełm–Włodawa, Kielce–Busko-Zdrój and Białystok–Waliły routes.

Not only during the summer season—rail closer to passengers in cities and regions

From June 13, passengers will board trains at 10 new stops. In the Kraków metropolitan area, on the route from Kraków to Skawina, Kraków Opatkowice and Skawina Jagielnia have been prepared. Residents of the Łódź metropolitan area will gain the new Łódź Retkinia and Łódź Warszawska stops. Access to rail services in Olsztyn will be improved by Olsztyn Likusy, Olsztyn Redykajny and Olsztyn Jezioro Ukiel. An additional platform at the Olsztyn Śródmieście stop will also make travel around the city easier. In Opole Province, passengers on regional services will board trains at the new Szydłów Centrum and Goszczowice stops on the Opole–Nysa route.

How long will the adjustment remain in effect?

The summer timetable adjustment will be in effect from June 13 to August 28. PLK and the carriers have prepared an offer of seasonal travel, taking passengers' needs and the capabilities of the modernized railway network into account. The timetable change allows summer connections to be introduced and train traffic and railway-line modernization to be coordinated.

Shorter journeys on long-distance trains

Compared with summer 2020, modernization has increased railway capacity and reduced journey times on popular routes. The fastest long-distance train on the Wrocław–Poznań route will take 1 hour 40 minutes, compared with 2 hours 18 minutes last year. The journey from Warszawa to Lublin will be 23 minutes shorter than the previous year. The fastest train from the capital of Mazovia to the Lublin region will arrive in 2 hours 9 minutes (compared with 2 hours 32 minutes last year). An attractive journey time is also available on the modernized route from Kraków to Katowice. The fastest train will connect the cities in 53 minutes (compared with 1 hour 37 minutes during last summer's season). The Kraków–Wrocław route can be travelled in 2 hours 53 minutes, whereas the journey took 3 hours 24 minutes a year earlier. On the Wrocław–Katowice route, the fastest train's journey time will be reduced to 1 hour 50 minutes (from 2 hours 13 minutes).

Holiday travel and investments

The train timetable takes into account modernization work on lines, stations and stops throughout the country. To enable convenient and attractive regional and long-distance travel, work is being carried out, among other places, on the Poznań–Szczecin, Warszawa–Białystok, Lublin–Łuków and Warszawa–Radom lines. The work also covers facilities in the Warszawa, Łódź, Kraków and Wrocław metropolitan areas. From June 13, work will begin in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Province on the Toruń Wschodni–Chełmża route, with buses replacing trains.

Information and assistance for passengers

Information about the upcoming train timetable is available at portalpasazera.pl and on the carriers' websites. Posters will be displayed at stations and stops one week before the timetable changes are introduced. In addition, on June 13 and 14, mobile information staff at stations in Poland's largest cities will help passengers find convenient connections, locate the appropriate platform and obtain any other travel information they need.
