Kamil Barczyk – Director of ZOZ in Bolesławiec:

We have a very ambitious plan to develop pediatric care in Bolesławiec. Unfortunately, Poland has a shortage of pediatricians, neonatologists and doctors of other specialties who undertake the diagnosis of children. Specialist centers are generally located in large cities. This significantly limits children’s access to appropriate medical care. We want children to be admitted to the ward early, before their health deteriorates to the point at which they require emergency admission. The most important things are rapid diagnosis and prompt specialist consultations. This is already happening at our hospital. Treatment of young patients is comprehensive. We conduct, among other things, cardiological, gastroenterological, pulmonological and allergological diagnostics, as well as diabetes prevention. We have the support of psychologists and dietitians.

And he adds:

It is important to me that children and parents have access to an open ward equipped with the necessary equipment and staffed by specialist doctors who can quickly make the correct diagnosis and, if necessary, refer patients to renowned centers.

Children are diagnosed at the Pediatric Ward in Bolesławiec. When necessary, they are referred to reference centers for further, in-depth treatment. ZOZ cooperates closely with the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw and the Mother and Child Institute in Łódź.
