According to the signed arrangements, the patronage will cover newly established classes from 1 September 2021, in which students will train for the occupation of hotel management technician.
Cooperation between vocational schools and companies in the industry is one of the most proven methods of improving the quality of vocational education and ensuring a qualified workforce on the local labour market.
The date of signing the agreement is not accidental and coincides with the reopening of the hotel and catering industry after overcoming—hopefully finally—the COVID pandemic. In the preamble to the agreement, both directors expressed the hope that this initiative would support the local hotel and catering industry, which has been so severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Hotel Ibis did not choose ZSOiZ in Bolesławiec as its partner by accident. The school’s high external examination pass rates, particularly the 100% pass rate for the vocational examination taken by hotel management technicians, guarantee a solid and trustworthy partner. For ZSOiZ, the most important benefit is gaining a local partner with considerable organisational potential and experience stemming from the stable position of the Accor hotel group, one of whose brands is also Ibis Styles. The signed agreement not only strengthens cooperation with the Bolesławiec Ibis Hotel, but also significantly facilitates contacts with other Accor hotels throughout the country.
Under the agreement, Hotel Ibis undertook to support the school in organising career-oriented trips and practical classes. Students will now study selected topics related to serving hotel guests, booking hotel services, serving guests at reception, and preparing and serving breakfasts under real working conditions, while also improving their professional language skills and personal and social competences. In addition, teachers and students distinguished by their results and conduct will be able to participate free of charge in training sessions for employees held at the hotel. The hotel will also support students and provide them with informal clothing. To ensure the wellbeing of students who have chosen training as hotel management technicians, Hotel Ibis Styles Bolesławiec will co-organise an integration event for first-year students every year.
Maturity, business responsibility and concern for the students’ future are reflected in a provision of the agreement in which both parties clearly stated that the cooperation would not affect the very positive relationships the school has developed with local representatives of the hotel industry.
Although the agreement takes effect on 1 September 2021, cooperation between the school and the hotel is already highly advanced. As a result of discussions held during the current school year, which is now coming to an end, practical training and vocational internships are being held at the hotel. Similar forms of cooperation have also been planned for the upcoming summer holidays. Thanks to the WINESTONE restaurant operating at the hotel, students training as nutrition and catering services technicians will also benefit from the cooperation. They are already completing, and will continue to complete, practical training and vocational internships there, gaining experience in the restaurant.
During the meeting, both directors expressed the hope that the effort put into implementing the provisions of the signed agreement would bring tangible benefits to the local hotel and catering industry, while providing young people with solid support as they enter the labour market and continue their education.
We encourage all primary school graduates to familiarise themselves with the full educational offer of the H. Sucharski Complex of General and Vocational Schools in Bolesławiec, as the school offers interesting educational opportunities not only for future hotel professionals.
