Both patients were admitted to the hospital in Bolesławiec in very serious condition. The young patient complained of abdominal pain, and appendicitis was suspected. ZOZ:

Peptic ulcer disease is rare in children. The patient had not been diagnosed for a long time. He was admitted to hospital with symptoms of peritonitis. From a surgical point of view, he is currently healthy. Following the procedure, pharmacological treatment and appropriate medical care remain necessary to prevent the ulcer disease from recurring.

In the older patient, the diseased section of the intestine was removed and reconnected, without the need for a stoma. The hospital:

Thanks to the use of modern laparoscopic surgery, both patients avoided extensive procedures and scars. Recovery is faster, and the risk of complications is lower.

Wojciech Hap, MD, PhD, Wojciech Hap, Head of the General Surgery Department with the Oncology Surgery Unit:

I hope that soon we will be able to perform more and more laparoscopic procedures. We are waiting for modern equipment, which will most likely arrive in August. This will give us much greater opportunities to develop surgery in Bolesławiec and, above all, provide better treatment for patients.

And he adds:

Our goal is to replace as many conventional operations as possible with minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures. This is the future of modern surgery. A laparoscope is also an excellent tool for diagnosing pathological changes without the need to open the abdominal wall. It works particularly well for inguinal hernia repairs, perforations, appendectomies and traumatic conditions.
