The main attraction of Bolesławiec’s Museum Night will be the opportunity to visit Pückler Palace (28/29 Zgorzelecka Street), which in the near future will be adapted as the new home of the Museum of Ceramics. We would like to invite you to a unique, eventful evening walk through the palace, entitled “Forgotten Stories.” It will be a short journey through time, allowing visitors to rediscover the history of this place and, at the same time, see what it will look like in just a few years. Selected rooms will feature installations referring to the most important moments in the history of the building—the changes in the palace’s owners and functions. Visitors will be able to see, among other things, an 18th-century inn, Franz Hatzfeld zu Trachenberg’s music room, a park designed by Eduard Petzold, and the office of the Bolesławiec Construction Company. Those interested are invited from 7:00 p.m. to midnight (last admission at 11:30 p.m.).

On the occasion of Museum Night, we also encourage you to visit the Ceramics Department (13 Mickiewicza Street) and the City History Department (14 Kutuzowa Street). All permanent and temporary exhibitions will be available free of charge that day from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The City History Department has prepared the archaeological exhibition “The Goths—from the Baltic to Rome,” presenting one of the largest Germanic tribes, which made a major contribution to the fall of ancient Rome. Before that happened, however, the Goths undertook a journey lasting several centuries from Scandinavia to the Black Sea, settling, among other places, in areas that today lie within Poland’s borders. “The Goths—from the Baltic to Rome” is an attractively arranged exhibition of unique archaeological finds.

The Ceramics Department will present an exhibition of works by Bronisław Romanowski (1909–1987). B. Romanowski settled in Bolesławiec shortly after the war. In 1950, he joined a team tasked with restarting the Julius Paul und Sohn ceramics factory on Polna Street, which later operated as the “Artistic Ceramics” Cooperative of Folk and Artistic Industry. He worked there as a designer and modeller. In the history of our city, he is remembered as the creator of unique ceramic figurines. The collection on display is a selection from the museum’s own collection and the artist’s family holdings.

In both departments of the Bolesławiec museum (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.) and at Pückler Palace (7:00 p.m.–midnight), promotional sales will be held for new publications issued by the Museum of Ceramics: “The Prewar Image of Bolesławiec in Museum and Archive Collections” and “Bolesławiec Ceramics in Museum Collections.”

We also invite you to take part in the online competition “Bolesławiec. Detail—Three Times.” Participants will be tasked with identifying the locations of buildings based on photographs of architectural details. The competition details will be announced on Thursday, May 13, 2021, on the website and the museum’s Facebook profile. Book prizes await the winners.

Events during Museum Night will be organized in compliance with sanitary restrictions.
