Bolesławiec traffic police, while patrolling the economic zone in the municipality of Nowogrodziec at night, spotted a man standing next to a van. Upon seeing the police car, he ran into a nearby forest. KPP:
The vehicle had no registration plates or side window on the driver's side, while inside the car police officers found a GPS jammer and a torn-out ignition switch.
But that was not the end of it. The officers:
A 35-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained near the van, inside a passenger car. His vehicle was also equipped with a GPS jammer. In addition, officers found Polish registration plates in the passenger car assigned to the same car model as the one that had been stolen.
The vehicle, which turned out to have been stolen in Germany, was recovered before its owner had managed to report the theft. The car was worth PLN 90,000.
Investigators determined that the detained Ukrainian was an accomplice of the van driver. The foreign national was charged with handling stolen goods. He faces between three months and as many as five years in prison.
