The latest edition of the “Young Entrepreneur” competition is underway and is addressed to secondary-school students. The aim of the competition is to broaden knowledge of the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, develop motivation to improve skills, and shape entrepreneurial attitudes and thinking.

According to the president of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Gospodarcze, Karol Stasik, achieving business success requires a good idea as well as qualities such as perseverance, determination and passion. “Secondary schools prepare students primarily for the final examinations. It often happens that a young person finishes their education and does not know how to cope in a new situation,” says the head of BTG. “Our aim, meanwhile, is to give young people the opportunity to become self-employed and take matters into their own hands.

For this reason, BTG organizes, among other things, meetings with entrepreneurs in schools. “Contact with someone who is successful in business—and we try to invite precisely such people—gives young people motivation to continue working,” emphasizes Karol Stasik. “Our Association operates on a community basis to support economic development. We promote entrepreneurship. The more companies, the better,” he adds.

The competition consists of two stages: in the first, participants prepare a business plan in writing and send it to the address of Bolesławieckie Towarzystwo Gospodarcze (7 Ogrodowa Street). At the request of interested parties, the organizers have extended the deadline for submitting entries to 15 January 2010

The ten best business plans will qualify for the next stage of the competition, in which participants will present them before the jury.

The results will be announced and the prizes awarded by 31 March 2010. The winners and their supervisors will receive prizes worth a total of PLN 2,500 (1st place: PLN 1,000, 2nd place PLN 700, 3rd place PLN 400, 4th place PLN 250, 5th place PLN 150). In addition, the winner of the first prize will receive a statuette funded by Zakłady Ceramiczne “Bolesławiec”.
