On 4 May, the feast day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters, International Firefighters’ Day is celebrated. On this occasion, a solemn Holy Mass for firefighters and their families was celebrated at the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas in Bolesławiec.

The service, presided over by Rev. Prelate Andrzej Jarosiewicz, PhD hab., was attended by Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak; County Fire Service Commander in Bolesławiec, Brig. Andrzej Śliwowski, together with his deputy, Brig. Piotr Pilarczyk; representatives of the volunteer fire brigades of Bolesławiec County, represented by Jarosław Nenkin, President of the County Board of the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades of the Republic of Poland, and the OSP Ocice color guard; as well as retirees, including Brig. Grzegorz Kocon, President of the Provincial Board of the Association of Retired Fire Service Officers and Pensioners of the Republic of Poland, retired.

Due to the epidemiological situation, the event was held under sanitary restrictions, and the number of participants was limited.

On the occasion of Flag Day of the Republic of Poland, a ceremonial change of duty took place on Sunday, 2 May, in front of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, during which the national flag was raised. In this way, firefighters from the Rescue and Firefighting Unit paid tribute to national symbols and expressed their patriotism toward their homeland.
