The reader went on a bicycle ride. He was travelling along the Bolesławiec-Iwiny cycle path, where young men had parked their cars, including a BMW and an Audi.
On 21 April, I enjoyed the opportunity to use the Bolesławiec-Iwiny cycle path. When I was resting at the so-called shelter in Kruszyn, three cars with young people inside drove up. The young people parked, leaving room for pedestrians and cyclists. Despite being aware that this was against the regulations, I decided that perhaps they did not know the rules. I would not have reprimanded them if one of the individuals had not started aggressively mouthing off at another person who pointed out to him that cars cannot be parked there. I informed the participants in this gathering that they should think about what they were doing. It does not bother me, but hundreds of people use this path every day, and even while I was there, some people were outraged by the young people's behaviour. Nevertheless, the mouthing off intensified. I have the vehicles' registration numbers in my memory, but I am not publishing either the numbers or the people's images, and I will not share them with the authorities either. I would like to make this public solely as a warning!
As a warning to the young men, we asked the police spokesperson about the regulations.
“If the path is marked with the appropriate signs, then under the regulations it is prohibited to stop a vehicle on a cycle road (path), a cycle lane or in an advanced stop line for cyclists,” explains Anna Kublik-Rościszewska. “The above offence carries a PLN 100 fine and 1 penalty point. In court proceedings, however, the fine may be as high as PLN 5,000,” the spokesperson adds.
Dear young people, please familiarise yourselves—with a view to taking warning—from the regulations and stop mouthing off when the law is being broken. You can also thank people for not calling the police.
