Fundraiser organizer:
On April 12, 2021, our friend, loving father, only son and brother Łukasz Cygan (36) went missing in the town of Bretzfeld, Germany. The search lasted eight days. On April 20, Łukasz’s body was found in flooded quarries. At present, the family knows nothing apart from the fact that the investigation is ongoing; they are waiting for permission to release the body. The eight days that we experienced together with Łukasz’s loved ones were difficult. Looking at his mother and sister Joanna, I saw their helplessness, uncertainty, sadness, grief and anger… feelings that tore them apart in every direction.
We supported them with kind words and gave them hope, seeking help in the media, on various social media portals and from private individuals—“because hope is the last thing to die.” I know firsthand how much it means to support a mother whose child has gone missing, and what her heart feels. In an instant, a young man lost his life, while also leaving his children without a father.
She adds:
I am asking you to support the fundraiser in these extremely difficult moments to pay for the transport and cremation of Łukasz’s body and bring him back to his homeland, to his family’s hometown of Nowogrodziec, where the funeral will take place. The cost of transporting the body from Germany to Poland is enormous for Łukasz’s mother, who has been left alone with his two little daughters, Lenka (6) and Hania (4).
If any of you could contribute even the smallest amount, we will help the family bring his body back to Poland so that he can be buried in the homeland he loved.
