“Because helping is great. Because it is not worth merely complaining about the world around us. Because it is worth being good, too. That is why I would like to sincerely thank those who contributed to the fundraiser we set up! The first water delivery has already arrived at the Healthcare Centre in Bolesławiec, and there are still funds for another delivery. The water was purchased and delivered with the help of the owners of the OdiDo shop from Lwówek Śląski. Let us do good, and the world will be a better place!” – these are the words of Magdalena Szumiata, whose mother and father were treated in the Neurology Department of the Bolesławiec hospital, where patients with complications following COVID-19 are hospitalized.
ZOZ Bolesławiec:
Despite her personal tragedy, Ms Magda did not give up and decided to devote her time and energy to helping the hospital’s patients. Together with her brother, through a campaign on zrzutka.pl, they raised funds to purchase mineral water and personal hygiene products for patients. The supplies are being successively delivered to the ward. In addition, Magda encourages all recovered patients to donate plasma and get involved in voluntary blood donation. She is an example to others herself. – I am a recovered patient. I survived the virus and I believe that I have just saved someone’s life! Are you a recovered patient? Please, donate blood or plasma! You survived? Give others a chance! – we read on her Facebook profile.
“Ms Magdalena is trying to involve as many people as possible in this campaign,” says Justyna Straszak-Trzeciak, Head of the Neurology Department. “An attitude full of selfless kindness and empathy gives doctors and nurses strength and fills them with hope. People like Ms Magda stand behind us. It is an extraordinarily encouraging experience.”
