– A brazen attempted theft took place on Sunday, April 11 this year, at around 9:20 p.m., at a petrol station in Bolków. The owner of an Audi passenger car decided to clean her vehicle. To do so, she drove to a self-service car wash – reports asp. szt. Ewa Kluczyńska, press officer for the Jawor District Police Headquarters.

While the woman was washing her car, a young man wearing a T-shirt with the word “POLICE” on it approached her. He opened the car door and, seeing the keys left in the ignition, decided to steal the Audi. The vigilant owner reacted instantly, dousing the brazen thief with a water gun.

This frightened the man enough to make him abandon his plan, and he and his “accomplice” drove away from the scene in a Volkswagen passenger car towards Jawor. Meanwhile, the Audi owner notified the duty officer at the Jawor police unit.

Officers tracked down the suspects at one of the petrol stations. In the Volkswagen, they found a wet undershirt with the word “POLICE” on it. Interestingly, it emerged that the owner of the T-shirt had hidden… drugs in his underwear.

The 29-year-old and his 31-year-old accomplice were arrested and taken into police custody. The following day, they were charged. Both men face prison sentences ranging from three months to as many as five years.

The 29-year-old will additionally be charged with possession of narcotic substances and will answer for the offense under Article 61 of the Code of Petty Offenses. Wearing clothing bearing the word “POLICE” is against the law.
