Officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec identified and arrested those responsible for the burglary and theft at a PKP building. “As a result of operational activities, officers gathered information about people suspected of committing the break-in on PKP premises in the Nowogrodziec municipality,” says asp. szt. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. “The perpetrators, acting under cover of night and overcoming the security measures, entered a technical employee’s room and stole, among other things, a specialized telephone and a radio. The equipment was used by the track supervisor for ongoing contact with train drivers.
She adds:
The first to be arrested was a 32-year-old man who, upon seeing the police, still tried to hide the telephone obtained through the crime under his bed.
The officers then arrested his 38-year-old accomplice, who was also found in possession of stolen items. In total, the police recovered property worth more than PLN 7,000.
Both suspects are residents of the Nowogrodziec municipality. They could now face between one and as many as ten years behind bars.
