The firefighters from Trzebień:
It is with great sorrow that we announce that on 13 April 2021, the late Firefighter Aleksander Bitner passed away. Grandpa Olek, as we all called him in the unit, was a longtime member of the Board of the District Branch Board of ZOSP RP in Bolesławiec, the Municipal Commander of the Board of the Municipal Branch of ZOSP RP in Bolesławiec, and above all, for us, the longtime Chief and Vice-President of the Board of our unit.
He was also a longtime guardian of the Youth Fire Brigades at the Volunteer Fire Department in Trzebień, and in this way raised a great many young firefighters, whom he infected with a passion for firefighting through his charismatic personality. He was able to mobilize everyone to take action, without sparing himself.
He was always ready for any task, even the most difficult work for the benefit of the unit and the local community. Our church was also very close to Grandpa Olek’s heart. He spent a great deal of time working there during its expansion.
And they add:
Everyone in the firefighting community knew him and respected him throughout Bolesławiec County. He always stood out for his good humor and persistence in pursuing his goals. He never refused anyone any kind of help.
For his many years of community service, he received, among other distinctions, the Golden Badge of the Association and the Bolesław Chomicz Honorary Medal.
During the 2017 reporting meeting, we unanimously adopted a resolution granting Firefighter Aleksander permanent honorary membership in the Board of the Volunteer Fire Department in Trzebień.
Despite being unable to be a member of the Operational and Technical Unit due to his age, he always came to the fire station during the maintenance work we carried out, advising, comforting and motivating us. He also asked about the rescue and firefighting operations we conducted. He was proud of the unit’s development.
And they emphasize:
Grandpa Olek, we will miss you very much—your smile, your always sound advice and your kind words.
We know that your work will not be in vain, and we will continue the unit’s activities just as you taught us.
We extend our sincerest condolences to the grieving family of Firefighter Aleksander.
We are convinced that you will find your place on the other side. You will surely join the ranks of the knights of Saint Florian and continue to support us in our work “from up there,” just as you did until today. You will remain forever in our hearts and memories.
The istotne.pl editorial team also extends its sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Saturday, 24 April at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Trzebień. It will begin at 2:00 p.m..
