Officers from the Police Station in Kruszyn received information that unauthorized persons might be on the premises of a defunct plant. At the site, in a wooded area, the thieves’ car was hidden. Various tools and copper wire were found inside the vehicle. (The property was secured.)
The two suspects—a 24-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County and his 35-year-old accomplice from Legnica County—were caught red-handed: they were in the process of pulling a copper cable out of the ground.
The would-be thieves were prepared—they used a chain hoist. The losses were estimated at more than PLN 2,000.
The detainees were charged with attempted theft. They could now face between three months and as much as five years behind bars.
