– During their duty in the city of Zgorzelec, officers from the Traffic Division of the Zgorzelec police station spotted a motorcyclist crossing a double solid line. The officers attempted to stop him for a roadside check – reports junior inspector Agnieszka Goguł, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec. – However, despite the light and sound signals ordering him to stop, he accelerated and began to flee, posing a danger to other road users.
On one of the gravel roads, the fugitive lost control of the vehicle. He was then detained.
It turned out that the 41-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County was fleeing because he is subject to a court-imposed driving ban and had his driving licence revoked by the starost. What is more, he was under the influence of methamphetamine.
The man could now face a sentence ranging from three months to as many as five years in prison.
