Grupa Stonewall and Miłość Nie Wyklucza have launched a billboard campaign supporting non-heteronormative children. On the Pomagam.pl fundraiser page we read:

The entire country has been covered with posters bearing an anti-abortion message. The next installment features a slogan pretending to have been written by a child: “love each other, Mum and Dad.”

In our view, the most important thing is that parents should love their child first and foremost. Unfortunately, something that should be obvious is not at all the norm in the case of LGBT+ children.

  • 88% of LGBT+ teenagers who have come out are not accepted by their fathers.
  • 75% of LGBT+ teenagers who have come out are not accepted by their mothers.
  • 70% of LGBT+ teenagers have suicidal thoughts.

We will cover all of Poland with posters!

The funds we manage to collect from 26 March will be allocated to support activities for LGBT+ people, including psychological and legal assistance.

The associations’ appeal was answered by Kinga Gęsicka-Biały, a mother of two sons on the autism spectrum. Kinga believes that this banner and campaign are also a protest against the violence experienced by children, which is spreading during the pandemic like a plague.

“I really wanted a ‘Love me, Mum and Dad’ billboard to appear in Bolesławiec,” says Kinga. “I started looking for contacts and reporting our city wherever I could. A certain gentleman from Miłość Nie Wyklucza contacted me and assured me that such a billboard would appear in Bolesławiec, but he could not reveal the details. I also expressed my willingness to install a banner on my own balcony. I then received permission along with a graphic for printing. The next day, the banner was ready and installed,” Kinga recounts.

From her own experience, Kinga knows how important a child’s acceptance is to the integrity of the entire family.

“The attitude of our current government toward LGBT people and the shameless way it undermines our basic rights—human rights—is cruel,” Kinga explains. “We have to take matters into our own hands and support these children, these people! Tolerance must be built among ourselves in smaller and larger communities, but above all in our homes. It is here, in my home, that tolerance and acceptance begin. As a mother, I teach my sons these values, and no president in the world will convince them that LGBT is an ideology!!! I remember how difficult it was for me to accept the fact that my son has an autism spectrum disorder, and how I repeatedly tried to deny it. I can only imagine what a parent feels when their child looks like a girl but is a boy, or vice versa. Dramas are unfolding in these homes. These children, these people, receive no support from the state. Nowhere! I would like this banner to help at least one LGBT person receive help, acceptance, tolerance and support at home, in their family and in their community,” says Kinga.
