As we read on the Facebook profile of the Bolesławiec Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment:
Spring is a time of increased activity for bomb disposal patrols, so, in order to ensure the efficient disposal of unexploded ordnance, bomb disposal patrols in Poland support one another.
That was also the case here, where in recent days we supported the Bomb Disposal Patrol from the 5th Engineer Battalion in Krosno Odrzańskie, disposing of unexploded ordnance in the LUBUSKIE VOIVODESHIP:
Municipality: Przewóz
County: Żary
Voivodeship: Lubuskie
Location: forested area.
The soldiers detonated as many as 296 dangerous items of German manufacture from the Second World War, including 88 mm artillery shells and artillery shell fuzes. The unexploded ordnance was found during forestry work.
The uniformed officers say:
It should be understood that explosives used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their production date.
What should you do if you find unexploded ordnance or a misfired projectile?
- Do not touch such items.
- Secure the area against access by bystanders, such as children, and mark the place where the item was found.
- Report it immediately by calling the emergency number 112.
