Bolesławiec police, as a result of operational activities, identified and arrested a man suspected of a series of catalytic converter thefts. (Readers informed us about a plague of this type of theft.) KPP:

All the catalytic converter thefts took place in Bolesławiec between December 2020 and March 2021. The suspect was charged with five thefts and one attempted theft of a catalytic converter.

The 32-year-old was not choosy—he targeted various vehicles, from less valuable ones to very expensive cars. Officers said: “The value of the damage caused by the thief to one of the cars was PLN 5,000.” The suspect quickly sold the property obtained through the crimes and spent the money on everyday needs.

Moreover, the suspect is responsible for two break-ins into vehicle fuel tanks and the theft of a total of 60 liters of fuel. The losses caused by the 32-year-old’s criminal activity were estimated at more than PLN 10,000.

What is more, while searching the premises occupied by the arrested man, police secured a cut-up catalytic converter and a tool used during the thefts.

The young resident of Bolesławiec County is already in prison, as he has to serve a 10-month sentence for previous offenses. He could now additionally face up to 10 years behind bars.
