– During joint operations conducted on the A4 motorway by KAS and Border Guard officers, 554 kg of dried tobacco without Polish excise duty markings was found in a passenger car, informs Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, spokesperson for the Lower Silesian KAS. – The man transporting the goods was detained and charged with committing a fiscal criminal offence.
Illegal transport of tobacco carries a sentence of between one and 10 years in prison, as well as a heavy fine.
Several days later, at a courier company's premises in Świebodzice, the reliable nose of Dracarys, a service dog, “pointed” to four parcels in which Lower Silesian KAS officers found a total of 18 kg of tobacco without Polish excise duty markings. The total value of the seized goods was over PLN 13,000.
