Can you raise the issue of public nurseries in Bolesławiec—or rather, one nursery? There are only 22 places allocated in advance for all of Bolesławiec. And an ordinary person who cannot afford a private nursery has no one to look after their child when they have to return to work.

Agnieszka Gergont, press spokesperson for the Bolesławiec City Office:

At Municipal Kindergarten No. 5 in Bolesławiec, there are two nursery groups—one for children under 2 years old and another for two-year-olds. Electronic recruitment for both groups was conducted for the 2021/2022 school year. The nursery groups offered 20 places: 14 for children under 2 and 6 for two-year-olds. The electronic recruitment system registered 85 applications for admission to the two nursery groups.

Electronic recruitment for kindergartens and nursery groups is conducted according to the transparent and strictly defined “Rules for the Recruitment to Municipal Public Kindergartens in Bolesławiec for the 2021/2022 School Year,” prepared on the basis of the Act of 14 December 2016, the Education Law. The rules clearly define the conditions and criteria for admission to kindergartens, including both nursery groups. A parent who registers a child electronically for a kindergarten or nursery group and submits a correctly completed application with the required attachments takes part in recruitment on publicly available terms that are equal for everyone and arise from education law.

She adds:

Places in the nursery groups are not allocated “in advance,” because the electronic candidate registration system ranks children according to the number of points resulting from the criteria they meet. It is not possible to exchange candidates on the lists, because the lists are printed from the system together with the number of points obtained by each applicant.

She also emphasizes:

With the aim of ensuring that the city’s youngest residents receive qualified care while their parents are away, the Municipality of Bolesławiec leased the building at 8 Sądowa Street on the basis of a completed tender and a concluded agreement. As a result, a private facility providing qualified care for children up to 3 years of age will operate on municipal property.
