On Saturday (12 December), TOP Bolesławiec’s volleyball teams played their matches. The cadets faced JKS Spartakus Jawor. Unfortunately, the Bolesławiec players lost 1–3 (26:24, 24:26, 21:25, 21:25). After the first match of the final round, TOP’s cadets are fourth – last – in their group. On 19 December, TOP will host UKS Jedlina Zdrój.
The volleyball players competing in the IV league performed considerably better than the cadets. The Bolesławiec team’s opponent on Saturday was the unbeaten Pogoń Góra side. The Bolesławiec players began their clash with the league leaders without any complexes. The visitors had little to say in the first set. The Bolesławiec team maintained a safe lead of several points and won 26:24.
The second set began with the Bolesławiec team taking a commanding 7:2 lead. Had it not been for TOP’s errors (attacks going out and missed serves), the visitors would have lost by a large margin. Near the end of the set, Pogoń closed the gap (20:21). However, TOP played effectively in the final stages and won 25:22.
The third set began with the visitors taking the lead. With Pogoń ahead 4:1, coach Mienculewicz called a timeout. Unfortunately, the Bolesławiec players continued to play poorly (3:9, 7:12). The weakest element of their game was the block, or rather its absence. As a result, almost every attack by the visitors produced a point. TOP “woke up” midway through the set. Effective attacks by Mariusz Zaręba and blocking play by Radosław Turczyński allowed our team to level the score (17:17) and then take the lead (20:18). The set ended with a 25:21 victory for the Bolesławiec team. Our team moved up to fifth place in the competition table. In the next round, TOP will face KPS Faraon Ziębice away.
