Police officers from the Jawor unit were dispatched to the scene. During their activities, they discovered the body of a 51-year-old man, a resident of the town, inside the residential building, as well as a conscious 69-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. The man was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Legnica.
Due to the fact that the incident was criminal in nature and there was a real risk of a dangerous situation occurring, a decision was made to dispatch officers from the Independent Counter-Terrorist Police Subdivision in Wrocław and a police negotiator. Their task was to enter the residential building and arrest people who might have been connected with the incident.
Due to the threat to the lives and health of the officers carrying out activities in the burning building, they withdrew from their actions, and firefighters began extinguishing the fire. During the firefighting operation, one of the firefighters noticed a man in a window of the burning building. The firefighting operation was interrupted, and the Wrocław counter-terrorist officers entered the scene again.
A negotiator from the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław called on the man over a loudspeaker to leave the building, but he did not follow the officer’s instructions. Using a ladder, police officers entered the building by breaking a window in one of the rooms on the first floor. After entering the building, the counter-terrorist officers discovered the body of a 39-year-old man, a resident of Skała.
Investigators, under the supervision of a prosecutor, carried out detailed inquiries at the scene. Today, an examination of the scene is scheduled, with the participation of a fire-science expert and officers from the Forensic Laboratory of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
Police officers are questioning witnesses. By decision of the District Prosecutor in Jawor, the bodies of the people who died in the incident were taken for autopsies, which will be crucial in determining the cause of death of both men. The investigation and the evidence collected during it will make it possible to determine the cause of this tragic incident and the involvement of the individual people who took part in it.
